Acts & Rules In Brief

  • 1. The Legal Metrology Act 2009:
    The Act is Intended to Establish Standards and Enforce Weights Measures and Numeration in Trade and Commerce and the matters incidental thereto

  • 2. The Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules 2011:
    These Rules are intended to certain mandatory declarations on the pre-packaged commodities. Such as Packer's and manufacturer's, importer's address, commodity name,quantity filled, date of packing MRP(Sales Price).

  • 3.Andhra Pradesh Legal Metrology (Enforcement) Rules 2011:
    These rules are framed by state government in consultation with central government to enforce Provisions of The Legal Metrology Act in the state.

  • 4.Legal Metrology (General) Rules 2011:
    These rules framed by the central government prescribing physical characteristics, Accuracies, methods and testing procedures etc. In relation to weights and measures.

  • 5.Legal Metrology (Numeration) Rules, 2011:
    These rules framed by the central government, prescribing the standards for numeration in the country.

  • 6.Legal Metrology (National Standards) Rules, 2011:
    These rules framed by the central government, prescribing the standards of weight and measures, their hierarchy, maintenance and custody etc.

  • 7.Legal Metrology (Government Approved Test Centre) Rules, 2013:
    These are intended to give opportunity to the persons other than government establishment to under take verification and stamping of weight and measures used in trade and Commerce.

  • 8.The motor Spirit and High Speed Diesel (Regulation of Supply,distribution & Prevention of malpractices) Order 2005:
    It is intended to prevent to adulteration of petroleum products such as petrol and diesel.
